  • A sophomore or above (in credits) standing currently studying Art Administrations, Art (performing or visual), or Art Education
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of aesthetics

  • Has an understanding and interest in the art processes and art history

Position overviews:

Gallery Internships

The Gallery intern will work with the Gallery Director and other LASC staff to assist with the marketing and creation of galleries.
Assist with the exhibition programming by assisting the LASC's Gallery Director on all exhibition-related administration including planning and installing of exhibitions in the LASC four exhibition spaces, the development of accompanying hands-on component for each exhibition installed in the LASC’s Kinkead Gallery as well as help oversee special events like the Day of the Dead Festival, Community Schools Art Project, altar/ofrenda installations during the LASC’s Day of the Dead Festival, artists call for entries, and art donations for the LASC’s fundraiser H’Artful of Fun.
  • Assist in the edit and production of brochures, postcards, and exhibition wall text.
  • Coordinate the packing, shipping, storage, insurance, and documentation of works of art in the permanent collection as well as those on loan for temporary exhibitions.
  • Recruitment and database development of artists, collectors, and groups to invite to participate in special art exhibition-related events.

Arts Administration Internships

Art administration interns will work with the Art Education Director and other LASC staff to assist with the managing of programming, outreach, and special events.

Assist with the day-to-day operations of the LASC. Duties will vary but may include preparing materials for No School Day Classes such as rosters and room / supply preparations, producing evaluation materials, or creation of classroom and outreach materials.

In addition to these duties, both Gallery and Art Administration Interns will have an opportunity to work with other staff members relating to programming, education, and development. Interns will gain a good understanding of how non-profits work. Other tasks might include working at various events (when available), coordinating mass mailings, assisting with the distribution of flyers and brochures to promote events, and general office assistance (answering phones, making copies, etc.).

Parking Details
Parking is available on-site at the Living Arts & Science Center. Additionally, there is street parking on 4th Street and Campsie on the building side of the road.
