Zilker Disc Golf Course Mulching & Clean Up

Saturday, March 7th, 2020 from 8:00am to 12:00pm (CT)

About

Come join Waterloo Disc Golf Club as we spread mulch on the disc golf course at Zilker Park.  We will be putting mulch around the baskets, tee boxes, and other high traffic areas to reduce soil compaction and erosion, and to encourage the growth of the grass that helps keep this course so beautiful.  We will also do a little trash pick-up, though the course tends to be fairly clean.  Tools, work gloves, snacks, and drinks provided.  Please bring a water bottle, and if you can bring an extra pitchfork or rock rake (the heavy duty kind of rake, not lightweight leaf/grass rake), please do so.

Plenty of drinks and snacks provided by the club, plus Austin Parks Foundation usually has some nice goodies for the volunteers.

The Zilker Disc Golf Course is in the southwest part of the park (south side of Barton Springs Rd, west near MoPac).  Take the park road (Andrew Zilker Rd) from Barton Springs Blvd west towards Mopac, park off to the right in the grass in the Polo Fields. Meet at the Polo Picnic Table Area.

The parking area and the meeting area for this event may have changed since the project was created and registration began.  The supervisor at Zilker is now asking that all volunteers park in the grass out in the Polo Field area (instead of using one of the parking lots).  The easiest way to get there is to enter the park from Barton Springs Blvd:

If coming from Lamar Blvd, turn left into the first park entrance.  Take an immediate right, going up the hill.  When it dead ends, turn left on Andrew Zilker Rd.  Go to the 2nd parking lot on your right and turn in there; that leads you into the grassy parking area.

If coming from Mopac / Loop 1, turn right into the park entrance just after the traffic light at Stratford.    Go to the 2nd parking lot on your right and turn in there; that leads you into the grassy parking area.

DO NOT pay the $5 parking fee at the pay stations.  Instead we will have parking passes to give you that you can put on your dashboard so that your parking is free while working on the park.

We will now be meeting at the Polo Picnic Table area.  This is just a short walk west of where you parked; a set of very long concrete picnic tables.

Here is a link to a google map which shows pins for both the parking area and the meeting area.
