Class Dates are scheduled on the 3rd Fri and Sat of each month.

Part 1 of this session will be an online training through Microsoft Teams. You will receive a link to join the meeting once your registration has been approved.  The online Microsoft Teams training will be held on Day 1 from 9 am to 11am.

Part 2 will be an in person training with a Parking Enforcement Officer.  The in person field training will be on Day 2 from 10 a.m. – 12 noon, the location is TBD depending on weather.   In person training will practice social distancing and will be limited in size to allow for 6 feet of distance between attendees.  Masks are optional for volunteers and instructors during the (outdoors) field training.  If you cannot attend the Saturday field training, additional field training sessions will be available throughout the following week on a case by case basis.

The Austin Transportation Department, in partnership with the Austin Police Department, provides the opportunity for volunteers to assist in addressing illegally parked vehicles in designated accessible parking spaces. Through volunteering with the Accessible Parking Enforcement Program, volunteers will help ensure accessible parking is available for those who need to legally utilize accessible parking spaces.

After receiving training, volunteers will be able to issue citations and warnings to motorists illegally parked in designated accessible parking spaces and will educate the community on the importance of keeping these spaces open for those who are legally entitled to use them.
