Having the opportunity to go experience the Kinder Estados Unidos de America Recycling Program under the leadership of Doña Daisy Orientation was a phenomenal experience. I love children and learning so being able to see those two things intertwined with one another was great! It was amazing to see how much the teachers stressed the concept of recycling and how they implemented the recycling curriculum through basic projects such as arts and crafts. Being able to also recycle the schools materials was a tiring yet extremely fufilling experience! It was such a shock to see that Dona does all the recycling herself when volunteers are not available. This experience taught me the importance of passion, time and patience!

I loved being able to go and experience the community management of the local water source in Costa Rica! My cohort was able to get an aquifer tour and gain a great foundational understanding regarding how the water is processed, cleaned and distributed! One of my favorite parts about this experience was being able to ask questions and having the opportunity to hear my peers ask their questions regarding the nature of the water source and the adversities the members face while maintaining such a massive area. We were also given the chance to clear the dense vegetation around the new trees, which was such a fulfilling experience. It was amazing to see how large and green the area was. To hear that this association is run through volunteers was extraordinary to me because it truly demonstrated the degree of respect and attention that the fellow Costa Rican citizens give towards the preservation of their resources.
