Dining Hall Recovery - Spring 2024
    CE 400 - 2023-24

I helped gather the flyers and materials for our last tabling event for Mindfulness Skills and Stress Management before/during finals. The student worker and I gave out stress balls, lifesaver and pamphlets which the students enjoyed. Even some faculty and tours groups lived our table.

Since next week I am off for Thanksgiving, today I prepared everything ahead of time for the last tabling event. This will be on Stress Management before/during finals. The office ordered football-shaped stress balls and some lifesavers to hand out. I helped make flyers and brochures for students to grab on the go. I also contacted the president of SAAAPA ahead of time to hopefully get more volunteers for this event as well.

The tabling event was held in the Union Atrium. We had a volunteer from the PA program help me and the other student worker help set up and grab people's attention in the first hour. We had a lot of traffic in Union as well as tours happening. The students, visitors and, faculty enjoyed what we had put to for the Diabetes Awareness Table.

Met up with the President of SAAAPA, Yoali Sanchez from the PA program. Prior to the meeting, I spoke with Nurse Anna regarding doing collaborative events for the tabling that we do every month.
This gives the PA-S a chance for community service and to be involved with campus life more. We formulated an email for the juniors and seniors if they can volunteer some of their time this coming Friday to educate the Wagner Community about Diabetes Awareness.

Office closed early today so with the time I had, I started preparing for the next tabling event on Dec 1 on stress and anxiety, on how to manage it during finals week. Dorothy got cute football stress balls to hand out which I am excited for since that is an attention grabber for students.

I helped with a presentation at El Centro Del Immigrante on Port Richmond Ave with Dr.Aurelus. There was a much larger turnout at this location than at the church where we previously did our presentation. This time Dr.Aurelus brought some of the second-degree students to help out.
During the presentation, there was a lot of engagement from the crowd and I could tell they enjoyed the topics we went over today which were a mixture of mental health and diabetes.
At the end of the presentation, we gave out custom certificates to the community members who attended.

It was a short day for me because I had a family emergency to attend to. With the time I had I helped order new enamel pins for the Diabetes Awarness tabling. I created two flyers differitating Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. I organized afterwards Trello after because nurse Anna wanted to see my progress.

In the office, I was gathering supplies for the breast cancer tabling event at 1 p.m. that the front desk lady prepared for me. While I was waiting for the student worker to come in, I made another flyer on how both women and men can check themselves and teach them about early detection.
We tabled from 1-3 pm and many students and staff came by the table and interacted with us. Many of them were ready to give donations but, we were just there to spread awareness. Students enjoyed the ribbon pins and pink wristbands for breast cancer the most and told us stories about survivors and people they have lost in their families.
