Lunch Prep for Homeless and Shelter Residents (Afternoon)

This experience was one of the kinds of experiences where words can;t describe the impact. It's a great thing to be able to serve others less fortunate than ourselves but the bottom line is it makes us look at our own lives from a new perspective and why we do what we do. Most of us are very fortunate and blessed and serving just reinforces such knowledge.

Back to School Bash with The Johnson Center

I greatly enjoyed this experience due to the rewarding nature of the service. The back to school bash was an event where autistic children could have their own sort of get together to celebrate the new school year. The kids were great and the whole event was well catered to the children. The few fun activities, which involved the most popular attraction, balloons showed that the simple things in life can be fun. The kids are always a large positive influence on anyone's life and it was definitely a great event to be a part of. My only complaint was that as many volunteering events it was overstaffed which led to a lot of standing around and idle time due to the massive amount of help. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but when I serve I like to be kept busy and always have something to help with.
