    Girl Day 2015 Volunteer Registration

I really enjoyed my day at the Women in Engineering event at UT this past weekend. I think it was extremely beneficial for the young girls to see women in college and women in the work force that are in the engineering field. I would have liked the UT students from ASCE to have welcomed and introduced us to the group of girls and parents when giving their presentation. Because we were not introduced as representatives of Fluor, the children and parents did not know who we were so the benefit of having real engineers there in addition to students in engineering was lost. Also, when checking in before walking to our designated classroom, we asked the lady registering people to confirm our building location to ensure we would be heading in the right direction. Her response to us was "wherever they told you to go". The fact that we traveled almost 3 hours to visit UT, I would have liked to have had a bit of a warmer welcome. Another suggestion would be to reserve a room for company representatives to congregate and possibly offer coffee, snacks, water, etc. I think overall it was a great event.
