About
The Study Friends program offers a unique and impactful opportunity for students aged 5-18 to thrive academically and socially. We connect emerging English language learners with dedicated high school student or adult mentors for personalized 1-on-1 tutoring and friendship. Volunteers provide crucial support with homework, projects, and English and Spanish literacy, while also offering academic mentoring to overcome the barriers immigrant students often face. This dynamic initiative not only enhances academic performance in subjects like reading, writing, and mathematics but also fosters meaningful relationships, builds leadership skills, and promotes integration into the education system and the broader community. By providing tailored assistance and a supportive environment, Study Friends empowers students to reach their full potential, ensuring they and their families can actively participate and succeed.
High School Study Friends volunteers are required to submit two letters of recommendation from current teachers or counselors to participate.
